Laptops and dragons
So I realize I said I probably wouldn’t put anything on here until monday, but they managed to install my new keyboard in two-ish hours and didn’t want to keep it over night like that one guy said! I am so happy, I am going to share (most) of the sketches I did while trying to figure out Nelen’s face. Sadly I still haven’t figured out how to do it. I can’t seem to get the right ratio of dragon and humanoid, and towards the end I sort of gave up and was just putting horns and scales on a human face. BUT. PROGRESS. Also in the second set is a REALLY AWESOME dragon head. Maybe just look at that.
Oh, Right, Nelen is from the Myris universe. He’s a Champion of the goddess of Law. He turned the warring gangs of criminals in the slums into an army of peace keepers and guards, but as far as the royals are concerned he is a gangster running a protection racket. He likes to play that image up and wears those wonderful pinstripe suits, and if he didn’t have horns he would probably wear a really sweet hat. (Myris is somewhat analogous to US in the 1920’s as far as technology and fashion go, but they still use the feudal system and they aren’t dumb enough to outlaw booze-a-hol. Oh right, and there’s magic and gods and stuff.)
Dragons in Myris are typically the gigantic European style fire breathing monsters, so Nelen’s more humanoid form and civilized manner confuses and scares most people on principal. There are hundreds of rumors about what he REALLY is floating around, but no one knows for sure.
